Come meet our guides!

David Dellamora

altSince moving to Colorado in 1999, David quickly became addicted to the backcountry while residing in Summit County and completing a degree in Geography at the University of Colorado. Even during college, David was skiing 150 days a season in Colorado and then travelling to Argentina to spend another few months exploring new routes and couloirs in the Las Lenas valley. As his interest in avalanche phenomena grew, so did his desire to travel and ski the steeps of Alaska and the French Alps. Trained by the AMGA in the ski guide discipline and as a certified single pitch rock instructor, an AIARE Level 3 graduate and a Professional Member of the American Avalanche Association, David has come to better understand the complexities of Colorado's Continental snow-pack by skiing and guiding terrain in both hemispheres, leading multi day excursions and traversing the entire range of the Italian Dolomites. When in Colorado, although shy of most ski resorts, he generally spends time exploring the Gore Range, visiting friends in the San Juan mountains or sticking to hidden tree stashes.

Joe Vallone

altJoe Vallone, our head guide, is IFMGA/UIMGA certified. While Joe graduated Colorado State University with a degree in music, he was often found skiing at Copper Mountain or climbing in Rocky Mountain National Park. As Joe's affinity for the mountains grew, he progressed rapidly through the AMGA certified guide program and found himself living in the French Alps, skiing the most impressive peaks in the world. Joey has a passion for laughter and always strives to help others better themselves, whether mentally or physically. He has an excitement and energy for life resulting from the tragic loss of fellow mountaineers, and is thus ready for any adventure. Joe is influential in the AMGA instructor pool, heli-ski guides in Alaska's Chugach Mountains, leads rock climbs for Colorado Mountain School and lives in the small village of La Grave, France during the winter. La Grave offers the most accessible extreme skiing in the world and Joey is the best American guide in the valley. With Joey leading the way, your options become limitless!

Brad Sawtell

altBrad graduated from Colorado State University with a focus in recreation and has been guiding in the Himalaya, Alaska and Colorado ever since. Additionally, he is a field forecaster for the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, covering the Vail/Summit and Sawatch zones. Brad is Tour Further's head avalanche consultant and the primary educator for our snow safety and avalanche awareness programs. Brad is also a Professional Member of the American Avalanche Association and resides on the board of directors. Brad is well known and respected within the industry and he participates in avalanche recovery efforts and investigations for the Forest Service, works closely with CDOT to keep highways safe in the winter time and spends his free time with his wife, horses and dogs.

Doug Krause

altDoug is Tour Further's chief South American ski guide, and has spent the last decade skiing in Argentina and Chile from July through October. Soon after graduating from the University of Vermont, Doug abandoned the East Coast and quickly became immersed in Colorado's professional ski community. Now, while at home during Colorado's winter months he commands Silverton Mountain's snow safety program, and likewise is a lead-guide for the Silverton helicopter operation. In addition to being an explosive technician, he is a Certified Instructor for the American Avalanche Association, trained by the AMGA in the ski discipline and teaches the Backcountry 101 program. Doug has travelled and skied all over South America and guided countless clients in the Las Lenas valley, Central Patagonia and along the Continental divide near Santiago, Chile.

Jamen May

altJamen May is in the AMGA rock climbing program and has climbed and skied around the world. He has completed a number of alpine ascents in Peru on the Alpamayo massif, skied extensively in the French alps and spends his summers in Moab, UT, Vedauwoo, WY and leading introductory rock climbing courses throughout Colorado. More so, Jamen is the most proficient and advanced ice climber that guides for Tour Further. Stemming from his Idaho roots, Jamen has a terrific laid-back manner and a cleaver sense of humor.
