Essential Gear

altAll clients participating in guided backcountry tours, Backcountry 101 programs or Level 1 avalanche courses are expected to arrive for their outing or program with all of the items listed below. However, if you are in need of any of the required gear please contact Tour Further directly or your personal guide. Tour Further can either rent, loan or suggest a place to purchase any and all needed materials. Please, just notify us as quickly as possible so that these needs and concerns are addresses in advance. Arriving unprepared will slow the beginning of our day, and is unfair to other course participants:

-457 kHz avalanche rescue beacon

-collapsable shovel and probe

-either snowshoes, alpine touring skis or a split-board

-adhesive climbing skins, for uphill travel

-ski poles or collapsable poles for snowboarders

-backcountry backpack at least 20 liters in volume

-waterproof shell and pants, plus an insulating layer
